“I am buzzing. I can’t believe it,” were Guha Bharadwaj’s words on being picked as one of the top 10 Rising DJs worldwide.
It is a proud moment for Go2Group as Guha, Senior Marketing Manager, popularly known as Goos in the DJ community and music circle, gets selected as one of the top 10 Rising DJs across the world to watch out for by Pioneer DJ’s Kuvo service. His music was heard and endorsed by Daisuke Ito — a long time contributor to club and culture publications including the best for underground music — Resident Advisor.
While he has been working with Go2Group for over four years, he made this magnificent achievement in just two years as a professional DJ.
Guha’s dual role has always been an ideal example of a perfect work-life balance. He says music is an integral part of his life, even while working. “It’s something that I personally always made sure — that there is something happening on the side besides work. Music is second nature. It is essential that I stay on the top of things and active; balance is important,” he quipped.
A quick history
Guha was just 18 years when he moved from being a rock music fanatic to garnering the interest to learn drums, and later realizing that he had a huge interest for house and melody. Growing up in the Middle East had its influence on the kind of music that he finally picked to create for his growing audience worldwide.
Music and all that
His music is a mix of percussion, melody, progressive house, and tech house. While he was always drawn to music, he started creating his own original mixes two years ago. He has played at festivals in India, including WonderWall (2016) in Goa, which had the legendary American DJ Roger Sanchez and Goos’s inspiration, as the headliner, Go Madras (2017) in Chennai, Satellite Beachside featuring artists from Above and Beyond's record labels Anjunadeep and Anjunabeats (2017) in Goa, and Corona Sunsets (across two years, across several locations). And here are some of his first times: was featured on Evermix UK as the artist of the month; did a show Goodmorning from Bangalore, which was aired in LA, Berlin, London, and more places; and was showcased at the 100th episode of a radio show on 50 hertz, aired in Netherlands and the US. He has performed with some famous Indian and international artists, including Rohit Barker, Nikhil Chinapa, Arjun Vagale, Tuhin Mehta, Ash Roy, Yotto, Theo Kottis, and Sebastian Légér.
Guha plays regularly at a few clubs in Bangalore, India and is looking forward to a few shows across the country this year. He is also prepping to make his ultimate dream come true — produce original music for a record label.
His advice to people who have a creative streak: “If you feel like doing it, do it. It’s not too much if you put your mind to it. The momentum builds. It’s important to have something which is different from work.”
